Join other like-minded folks on an adventure that will open your heart and fill your senses. You’ll relax into a daily flow of nurturing and inspiring yoga and meditation, delicious home-made meals and a chance to explore San Miguel’s world-famous foodie scene and gorgeous rooftop restaurants, guided excursions to our favorite local hot springs and winery, our local nature reserve, and a local’s highlight tour of this vibrant town. |
Expand your perspective and awareness with inspiration from yoga teachings and a healthy
sprinkling of Indigenous and Toltec Wisdom–this hemisphere’s ancient wisdom teaching that
parallels Eastern philosophy in some ways. There’s a reason Mexico has such great energy: the
culture is based on the powerful ancient wisdom of understanding that energy is the basis of all existence, and that one lives a healthy, happy, balanced life only when one learns to cultivate, expand, and harness the life force energy available to all. We will learn and experience together the power of our words and intentions, and the wisdom of cultivating awareness, including practices that will help you regulate internal dialog, balance your nervous system, cultivate a healthy mindset, and enjoy
heart-centered connection with others.

Why San Miguel De Allende?
Mexico is widely known for its warm, heart-centered culture, and warm friendly climate. For several years now San Miguel de Allende has been identified as the “World’s Best City” by Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes, and Travel & Leisure Magazine. Heidi and her husband, Kent, recently visited San Miguel de Allende for two weeks and Heidi decided immediately she wanted to share its “magic” and high-vibe energies with her community by offering a retreat.
SMA welcomes people from all over the world and all walks of life with open arms. From your first welcome hug (and tasty refreshing agua fresca), your senses and soul will come alive as you immerse yourself in the culture, tastes, and positive vibrations of this vibrant, colorful city full of music, dance, art, and world-famous cuisine.
San Miguel has been identified as a UNESCO World Heritage city, admired for its eye-pleasing architecture and expansive vistas, thriving arts scene and abundant cultural festivals. It seems every day is a celebration of life, with fireworks and parades, music and dance. Besides its geographic location in the center of Mexico and high elevation, its semi-desert climate bringing ideal weather all year long, San Miguel is known for its rich mineral hot springs and a geological foundation of quartz that is said to enhance its “good energy.” SMA attracts writers, artists and healers from all over the world, and promises an experience of the greatest art of all: the art of living a good life.
You’ll have the opportunity to step out into town with the guidance of local residents and teachers in an exclusive retreat curated personally for Heidi and her community. You’ll also have time to wander its charming cobblestone streets on your own, exploring its hidden treasures of artisan boutiques, gourmet craft cuisine, coffee shops, mercados and galleries galore.

Heidi Borsch
Heidi’s enthusiasm for yoga began in 1991 when she was given a spa day package that included a yoga class. After 31 years of an on-again, off-again practice at local gyms and yoga studios, she took a layoff from her sales job in 2011 as a sign – it was time to do something she loved.
In 2012, Heidi became a RYT 200, graduating from the yoga teacher training program at True Nature School of Yoga. She has since earned the designation E-RYT 500, completed a 100 hour “Yoga of the Heart” cardiac and cancer-specialized certification, become a Reiki Master, and has added multiple instruments to her sound healing arsenal. Additionally, Heidi is a certified MELT instructor, a self-treatment for connective tissue. Co-founder and CEO of Be Well Therapy Inc. 501©3, a non-profit, Heidi started Be Well in 2014 with Mary Baker out of a passion and desire to help the cancer community heal. The two have also designed a 55-hour Yoga Alliance-accredited Yoga for Cancer Recovery teaching program and have graduated just under 100 certified teachers. In her free time, she loves to travel with her husband Kent, walk to the beach and collect shells and beach glass, paint rocks and watercolor cards and cultivate her whimsical garden. |
Desiree Rumbaugh
Desiree Rumbaugh is an internationally recognized yoga teacher. She has earned certifications in Iyengar and Anusara Yoga and is an E-RYT and YACEP with Yoga Alliance. She is the co-author of “Fearless After Fifty: How to Thrive With Grace, Grit and Yoga” and the creator of the DVD series “Yoga to the Rescue.” She has online classes available through Tintyoga, Yoga Download, Yoga International, Gaia and OMStars. As of March 2021, she is a Pledge Drive Host for PBS, the Public Broadcasting Service in the USA.
Desiree holds fast to the teaching that Love is Stronger Than Fear. Having navigated personal tragedy, she has relied on the study and practice of Yoga to help her move forward in life with inner strength and courage. Known also for her warmth, authenticity and playful sense of humor, Desiree is a master at delivering the complexity of yoga in a down-to-earth, easily understandable way.
